We asked St. Louisans about two products – aspartame sweeteners and energy drinks. 45% of adults heard that aspartame might cause cancer; 28% heard about the investigation of health risks associated with new energy drinks.

There were demographic differences:
– African Americans were less likely to have heard about the aspartame sweetener causing cancer than Whites (38% vs 51%).
– Men were more likely to be aware of the possible risk of new energy drinks (37% vs 25%).
