She is originally from St. Louis and is an alumnus of the University of Missouri. She received her PhD in Developmental Psychology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln studying adolescent decision making and risk-taking. Before joining the HCRL in 2019, she was an Assistant Professor of Psychology at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville.
